Buying and selling
Join a launch, trade, and check a token before you buy.
Join a launch
Each launch is run by its launch module. The module decides the price, who can join, how much one wallet can put in and what happens if the launch fails.
How to take part is in the module’s description on its page. Read it before you contribute.
When trading opens
Trading opens after the launch module adds liquidity; a token cannot open with an empty pool. The opening can be scheduled up to 72 hours ahead, once the pool holds liquidity. Once set, nobody can move or cancel it, and anyone can open trading when the time comes.
A launch module may lock the liquidity it adds. Its page shows the lock, and Unlocked once the lock expires.
Then buy and sell in the launch module’s action pane — the column beside its tabs, where its own actions also sit.
What a trade pays
- POO.MEME’s share — set when the token was created. Its rate is on Fees.
- The token’s tax — the sum of the rows in its tax table.
Each row takes a percentage of every buy and every sell:
| Payee | Of the Buys | Of the Sells | Paid In |
|---|---|---|---|
| Treasury | 1.5 % | 2 % | Quote asset |
| Team | 0.5 % | 0.5 % | The token |
| A token module | 0.5 % | 0.5 % | Quote asset |
| Token’s Tax | 2.5 % | 3 % |
This token charges 2.5 % on buys and 3 % on sells, plus POO.MEME’s share at its own rate. On any token, buy and sell tax together stay within 10 %.
The table never changes. After creation no one — not the creator, not POO.MEME — can add, remove or edit a row.
- Only trades on the token’s own pool are taxed. Transfers between wallets and trades on other pools pay neither.
- The token’s launch module and its listed token modules trade with it tax-free, fixed when the token is created. No module can be given that power afterward — see a route around the tax.
- A row paid in the quote asset is collected in the token itself and sold back in slices, never in one go. Each slice is capped against the pool’s own token reserve and sold against a floor taken from the pair’s recent average price, so how far a sale can move the price is bounded by the pool it happens in. A sale that fails is put back and tried later, and the trade carrying it still goes through.
Slippage
Max slippage is how far the price may move against you before your trade is refused.
- Auto
- 0.5 %, plus on a sell whatever runs just before it: module runs and the token’s own tax sale.
- Custom
- 0.1 % to 49 %.
The same setting applies to module actions that set a minimum. Before you buy or sell, the action pane shows what you receive after tax, the price impact, the pool fee and your minimum. If the price moves past your slippage, or 5 minutes pass, the trade fails and your funds stay with you.
Gas
At the first line of every transfer, the token checks that the transaction carrying it arrived with enough gas to finish everything that leg can reach: each module call at the full cap that module declared, the tax table, and on a sell the token’s own tax sale. That figure is headroom, not a bill — it is compared against what you sent and never spent on the check, and you pay for what actually runs. A trade that arrives with less is refused before anything is spent.
- Trading here
- The action pane reads the token’s own figures and sends the limit from them. There is nothing for you to set.
- Trading elsewhere
- A limit worked out from what a trade usually uses lands under the figure, and the transaction reverts having paid for the attempt. Raise the limit well past any estimate — the token’s own figures are readable on chain, and an estimate is not one of them.
- Getting out
- Every token is created able to be traded within one transaction on its chain. A set of modules whose heaviest trade would not fit is refused at creation rather than found later.
Read a token page
- Status
- Where the launch stands, shown on the launch module’s block.
- Allocations
- A tab on the launch module’s block: who holds the supply, and every row of the tax.
- Modules
- Each module as one block, with its hooks and a link to the version this token uses. Gate means it can turn away a buy. No module can stop a one-hop sell, a sale straight to the pool, or a wallet transfer; selling in one hop also keeps a module from trading ahead of you on the next pool.
- Description
- Each module’s own account of what it does, written by its developer and fixed when that version was published. It is the only account there is, so read it.
